Thank you for your interest in helping make a difference at Broken Arrow Neighbors!

It’s easy to get involved!

Volunteers have the choice of 3 shifts:

MORNING (9am – 12:30pm) on Mondays through Thursdays

AFTERNOON (12:30 – 4pm) on Mondays through Thursdays

EVENING (4 – 7pm) on Monday and Thursday nights (for those of our working clients that are unable to seek us out during normal hours of operation.)

(Monday-Thursday) AM & PM volunteer roles include:

  • Receptionist (2-3 per shift) – Answers phone, greets guests, checks-in clients and ensures they live in Broken Arrow and have the necessary paperwork with them. Requires tolerance, patience, and a friendly voice.  Multitasking is necessary as well as the ability to keep calm under pressure. Thorough knowledge of our required paperwork and available community resources are a must.
  • Interviewer (2-3 per shift) – Meets one-on-one with clients to discuss current/past situation that requires assistance to determining what services are needed.  Requires the ability to “question” clients without demoralizing them.  Seeks viable information that will assist staff in making decisions regarding BAN assistance.  Provides as much information about our services as possible and, when necessary, gives additional available external resources.
  • Pantry (2-3 per shift) – Works with clients to help them select from available items in our self-shop pantry.  Will then checkout clients to verify items selected match quantities based upon family size. In between shoppers, may also need to tidy and/or restock pantry as needed.
  • Driver (1-2 on AM shift/1 on PM shift) – Picks up donation items from local businesses. Must have confidence in driving BAN pickup truck and cargo vans. Requires ability to move, lift and unload a variety of items (using provided equipment).
  • Medical Clinic – Positions include Receptionist, Rx Coordinator, Doctor, and Nurse. Each position is detail oriented and requirements vary. Please call or email Connie for more information regarding medical clinic opportunities.
  • Warehouse–  Works with pantry volunteers to keep the pantry stocked.  Helps  with donation pickups and sorting.  Requires ability to move , lift and unload a variety of items (using provided equipment).

(Monday evening) Medical Clinic volunteer roles include:

  • Receptionist (1 per evening) – Greets and checks-in patients, ensures they have the necessary paperwork, and pulls or creates their file. Requires tolerance, patience, and a friendly voice.  Multitasking is necessary as well as the ability to keep calm under pressure. Thorough knowledge of our required paperwork and available community resources are a must.
  • Physician (1-2 per evening) – Evaluates patients and determines the needed course of action.
  • Nurse (2 per evening) – Logs patient concerns, takes vitals and rooms patient for doctor.
  • Pharmacist (1 per evening) – Pulls medication requested by doctor (if donations are available).  Counts, logs and labels prescription on bottles and in patient file.  Delivers and explains medication to patients.

(Thursday Evening/Friday) Dental Clinic volunteer roles:

  • Receptionist (1 per evening) – Greets and checks-in patients, ensures they have the necessary paperwork, and pulls or creates their file. Requires tolerance, patience, and a friendly voice.  Multitasking is necessary as well as the ability to keep calm under pressure. Thorough knowledge of our required paperwork and available community resources are a must.
  • Interviewer (1 per shift) – same as above
  • Pantry (1 per shift) – same as above
  • Dentist (1-2 per evening/day) – Evaluates patients and determines the needed course of action.
  • Hygienist (1 per evening/day) – Provides cleanings for patients
  • Dental Assistants (2 per evening/day) – assists dentist and hygienist, preps room for patient, clean & sterilize instruments

Special Event/Holiday volunteer roles:

Throughout the year, BAN hosts additional programs both to benefit our clients and the agency. A variety of holiday assistance projects and agency fundraisers are held several times per year.  For more details please check our website, Facebook or contact us by email.
